Welcome to The Luther Public House. A homebrewer's homepage.
Martin Luther preferred homebrew over commercial brewing. After he married, his wife Katie brewed the beer as was customary in those days. Luther often began his written invitations to friends with the note that Katie had made him another batch of beer. Once in 1535, while away from home, he wrote to her about some bad beer he had drunk "which did not agree with me... I said to myself what good wine and beer I have at home, and also what a pretty lady"
Hi, thanks for visiting. Luther certainly enjoyed beer brewed at home, and so do I. A trip to England to visit family in 2000 opened up a whole new world of beer to me. I had just graduated from college and this trip changed my interest in beer from quantity to quality. I spent the next five years trying many new styles of beer. Then in 2005 I decided to take my love of beer to the next level... brewing it myself.
This is my website. It is not just a history of my own personal homebrewing adventures, but also a place for me to share some of my favorite places. Whether it be a place to find a great beer or a brewery that makes fine craft beer. It could even be a place I go to drink craft beer brewed right on premise. I always try to support my local craftsmen, but you will find some of my favorites from other parts of the world as well.
The Luther Public House is the name I gave my little corner of the garage where homebrew is dispsened and stories are shared. There is always something on tap in the Luther. Perhaps someday there will be a real Luther Public House. But until then, this intimate setting will most certainly do. So go grab one of your favorite brews, sit back and enjoy.
The Luther
Words to the Healthy Wealthy and Wise...
Most people think that Benjamin Franklin said: "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy". Well, he didn't exactly. But, he did say: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result". So, if you drink too much today and you expect to feel good tomorrow... you're insane! Please drink sanely.
Cheers, I'm glad you're here.
